NOVEMBER 2009

It has been a while since I've made updates to the website but a lot has happened in the last 4 months.

I have returned to school to put some of my artistic skills to practical use. I am in the Dental Technology program at George Brown College. What this means is that I am "making teeth". I'm currently learning how to make the prosthetics for dentures and orthodontics, as well as drawing and sculpting the individual teeth in order to fully understand the anatomy. My ultimate goal will be crown & bridge, and ceramics; making the individual tooth or group of teeth that will replace the ones missing from a person’s mouth. This is perfect for me. It combines my love of anatomy, using my hands to build and create, and my attention to detail for colour and symmetry. It also makes me feel really good to know I will eventually make a difference in a person's life. I'm really enjoying it. I’m also getting some inspiration and ideas for new art projects.

I now have some of my work for sale at a furniture store in Toronto. Office & Shop Furniture has some prints available for sale. This is a really cool store with antique reproduction office furniture and accessories. It has a very eclectic feel with lots of cool antique and era specific gadgets. They are found near St. Lawrence Market on King street.

Masterpiece Cabinets has had the Grand Opening of their Showroom and Gallery. The showroom will feature all of the amazing work of Paul Szewc. The Gallery will host rotating shows, including The Masterpiece Project. My "wonkies" will be on display there along with the other artists who were part of this project. It's a beautiful space just outside of Guelph and I'm excited to show more work with them in the future.

I will have three pieces in show at Barber Gallery in Guelph. The show, La Convivencia, will run from Nov. 28th - Jan. 30th. The Opening will be November 28th from 2-4pm. 167 Suffolk Street West in Guelph.

I have two pieces in Whodunit? this year at OCAD. Go and see if you can pick out my work hiding amongst the hundreds of entries. Preview days are Nov. 18th-20th and the Public sale happens November 20th.

And finally, If you're one of the 300 million people on Facebook, please become my "fan." I'd be really interested to see who's looking at this site and, hopefully, enjoying my work. Add me HERE
